durban to johannesburg ZULULAND TOUR

   (4 Days/ 3 Nights)

Departing from Durban, this tour includes a visit to the St Lucia Wetlands, a river cruise amidst hippo and crocodiles plus a full day visit to the Umfolozi/Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Additional highlights include a game drive in an open Land Rover and a sunset river cruise. Experience tracking the Big 7, early morning bush walks with a qualified guide and dinners served in the bush beneath African skies. This tour includes all transport, meals and activities on a camping or fixed accommodation basis in a private game reserve in the heart of Zululand.

Day 1: Departing Durban at 8.00am, we head north through the Kwa-Zulu Natal sugar cane fields and plantations, following the Indian Ocean coastline. Stop for lunch alongside the St Lucia Estuary before embarking on a river cruise amongst the hippo, crocodiles and abundant riverine bird life. Thereafter we continue our journey deeper into Zululand and arrive and set up our camp for the next 3 nights in a private game reserve in the Zululand bush. This camp is set in the lush coastal forest and is not fenced, so expect to see antelope and warthog strolling through camp. It is also a birder's paradise with many rare species, so keep the binoculars handy. (L, D)

Day 2: After an early morning guided game walk, we enjoy a full bush breakfast and spend the rest of the morning relaxing around camp, bird-watching or tanning around the pool. After lunch, we visit a traditional working Zulu village and experience this unique culture. We then return to camp for sun-downers and dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 3: An early start this morning as we enter the UmfoloziHluhluwe Game Reserve. Expect to see some of the big guys, including rhino, buffalo and elephant. We enjoy an al fresco breakfast as we continue through the park, as well as a stop at the Hilltop Camp and then onto lunch at a picnic spot in the bush. We return to our camp that afternoon and share our sightings and photographs over drinks and dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Breaking camp after breakfast, we head back south, stopping at an African craft market along the way for any last souvenirs, before arriving back in Durban by mid-afternoon where the tour ends. (B, L)
